Wisdom tooth removal: When is it necessary?

Severely infected wisdom tooth effect the other tooth as well, and the only option left behind is tooth removal. One infected tooth may destroy your other teeth slowly. In this case wisdom tooth extraction is necessary.

Post Operative Care after Tooth Extraction

Your Dr will guide you about post-operative care and you must follow those instructions which includes: 

  • Elevate your head
  • Stop using mouthwash as it irritates your wound
  • Maintaining good pressure on the gauze pad until bleeding will reduce for at least 30-45 minutes
  • You should avoid touching with the tongue or finger
  • No rinsing and spitting 
  • Use ice packs for swelling for at least 20 minutes and repeat 
  • For a few days avoid eating hot and hard foods 
  • Eat cold and soft foods for a few days
  • Stay well hydrated
